environmental policy

We are committed to comply with legislation, to continually improve our processes and to reduce the harmful impacts of our operations and those of our clients, where possible, on the environment. We provide training and education for our employees on environmental issues and monitor and review our environmental progress on an annual basis. We endeavour to improve our environmental performance and are committed to implementing the following:

Resources
Conserving energy, water, wood, paper and other resources, particularly those which are scarce or non renewable, while still providing a safe and comfortable working environment;
• Switching off computers, monitors and printers at the end of the day
• Turning off all the lights at the end of the day and only turning them on when required
• Turning down heating rather than opening windows and doors
• Using energy saving lightbulbs, where possible

Developing processes for the adoption of electronic business, online trading and ordering;
• Use electronic communication where possible instead of paper
• Setting up a client section on our website

Reducing waste through re-use and recycling and by using refurbished and recycled products and materials where such alternatives are economical and suitable;
• Recycling paper, bottles and cans
• Using crockery, glasses and mugs rather than disposable plates and plastic cups
• Reusing waste paper as notebooks
• Buying recycled products and paper from sustainable sources where practical
• Recycling computer equipment and monitors
• Recycling office furniture
• Ensuring that any products used or derived from timber and plants, are from sustainable and managed sources.
• Only printing emails etc when really necessary and printing on both sides of the paper
• Choosing the reduced toner option on the printer
• Cancelling unwanted publications and removing our name from junk mail lists

Pollution
Reducing the need for services that naturally cause pollution or waste products such as couriers, post/packaging, labelling and envelopes by.
• Sending artwork via email or File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
• Using local suppliers if possible
• Using public transport, walking or cycling whenever practical

Regulations
Giving serious consideration to all relevant, current and foreseen statutory regulations (including the Environmental Information Regulations), official codes of practice and
other requirements that we adopt; specifying sub-contractors do the same when working
on our premises or on our behalf;
• Choosing suppliers whose environmental commitments match, or exceed our own

Communication
Communicating openly with both existing and potential clients, permanent staff, part time staff, freelancers and other stakeholders; educating, training and motivating them to support our environmental programmes and jointly develop new ideas and initiatives;
• Organise staff training sessions
• Keeping up to date with legislation and providing environmental information to staff, clients and suppliers

Responding appropriately to external requests for environmental information;
• Advise as to how a client can review and implement an environmentally conscientious and sustainable strategy towards all of its communications
• Provide advice as to alternative environmentally conscientious approaches to a project
• Recommending environmentally friendly papers and print practices

Premises
Ensuring, where practicable, that buildings occupied by us are designed, constructed and operated to optimise their environmental performance;

Environment
Demonstrating that, where relevant, environmental issues are seriously considered when making decisions, planning and developing policy and projects for ourselves and on behalf of our clients;

Performance
Monitoring progress against the environmental aims and objectives and other indicators and producing a regular report for internal and external review.
